A reusable cup attachment designed to improve grip, stability, and comfort when holding hot takeaway drinks.
Paper cups filled with coffee or tea can easily become very hot on the outside, and the surface of the cup may feel slippery. This, combined with the weight of the contents, can make the cup difficult to hold, especially for people with reduced grip strength or other hand-related difficulties.

Koppvinge addresses this by offering multiple ways to hold the cup while supporting the fingers, reducing the need to grip tightly. The product comes in two different sizes that can be stacked inside one another and easily carried in a bag.

Background
Koppvinge was designed during the course Inclusive Design. The idea for this project originated from meeting an individual who experienced difficulty holding hot paper cups due to impaired hand function.

Existing solutions, such as cardboard sleeves, reduce heat but do not improve grip or stability, revealing a clear need for a more supportive design.

Prototyping and user testing
I explored a few different approaches to the problem:

• Redesigning the paper cup completely
• Improving the cardboard sleeve
  
• Developing a reusable plastic accessory

User testing was conducted at Mötesplats Centrum in Lidingö, a community space for elderly people, many of whom experience reduced grip strength and hand stiffness.

The testing revealed a clear preference for the reusable plastic accessory, which was perceived as safer and more stable than the other concepts.
